Meet the Founder

Lisa Dowling (she/her) is a Registered Music Therapist, professional musician, AuDHD mother, and founder of Sway Creative Therapies.
With over 20 years of experience as a musician and extensive clinical experience supporting neurodivergent children, families, and adults, Lisa brings both professional expertise and lived understanding into her work.

As an AuDHD clinician herself, Lisa is deeply passionate about creating spaces where people feel safe to unmask, regulate, connect, create, and be fully themselves without judgement or pressure to fit neurotypical expectations.
Her work is grounded in nervous system safety, creativity, authenticity, and neuroaffirming practice. She has a particular interest in emotional regulation, sensory processing, identity, attachment, trauma-informed care, and supporting communication and self-expression through music.
Lisa is also a Grammy-nominated musician, guest lecturer, and presenter at the Australian Music Therapy Conference.

She has worked across private practice, schools, early childhood settings, hospitals, and community programs, and now leads a growing team of creative therapists at Sway Creative Therapies on the Sunshine Coast.

Alongside her music therapy training, Lisa has completed additional professional development in Rhythm2Recovery and neurologically-informed music therapy approaches, and holds Trinity College London qualifications in Piano (Grade 8) and Speech & Drama (Grade 5).

At the heart of Sway is a simple belief:
People deserve spaces where they can feel safe enough to be fully themselves.
